Yard Tree Giveaway

Every year, the City of Portland gives away thousands of free yard trees to Portland residents to improve tree canopies. This year, The Blueprint Foundation is joining the effort and partnering with Portland Urban Forestry and the City of Portland to help spread awareness in priority neighborhoods, East of the Willamette River.

Join us in the equitable distribution of 15,000 free lush trees that make our communities feel like home, for us and for generations to come.

Why Trees Matter
Urban trees play a vital role in making communities and neighborhoods healthier and safer.
Trees provide cleaner and cooler air and water, while offering health benefits, such as improved birth and blood pressure, reduced stress, and higher rates of concentration and focus.
Tree Canopies
On the West side of the Willamette, residents enjoy 56% more tree canopy coverage than the East side, with only 21% coverage.
Learn More
Nearly 80% of the population on the East side includes many Black, Indigenous People of Color, and low-income communities.

About Portland Urban Forestry

Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) Urban Forestry is responsible for overall city-wide management and regulation of the City’s urban forest infrastructure.

Urban Forestry works collaboratively with property owners, residents, and community groups to protect and care for trees.

Through the Yard Tree Giveaway program, Urban Forestry is focusing its programs in areas where urban forestry services are lacking. This means prioritizing areas with lower income, lower canopy, and a greater proportion of People of Color.
